Celebrate your Victories!

What have you done lately – in your work, life, and with yourself – where you can declare victory? It seems to be tough for many of us to celebrate our successes. Often my clients are so focused on overcoming their challenges that they miss the opportunity to pause and enjoy their victories.

Recently, I reflected on the great work by my clients. Several have been seeking that new job, and after focused soul searching and preparation, and “knocking them dead” on the interview, they have been offered the job they wanted. Others have been working hard to create new partnerships internally with their teams, as well as externally with customers and the public. Hearing the joy in their voices when those partnerships become a reality is a true gift. Some of my clients are working to achieve innovative solutions to long-term challenges and they create amazing outcomes for what has been previously thought of as “the tough nut to crack.” In order to take on the next big thing our spirits need some refueling. And, what better way to do that then to celebrate the victory?!

Knowing that you have achieved a goal, enables you to move towards the next one with confidence, bravery, and an ability to take on potential risk with more energy and often less fear. One client recently said that when he “feels the water, it is often not as cold as he thought it was going to be – that it is actually okay.” What would happen if you decided to feel the water knowing that you have had many successes before?

Do you celebrate your achievements? I certainly hope you do. It is time to give yourself permission to find a way, small or large, to enjoy the fact that your investments have paid off. Did others join you in creating the success? This is also a great opportunity to have them celebrate with you. I encourage you to pause and enjoy your victory because there are so many more ahead in your life and work. It becomes a path paved with victories! Celebrate!!
